Panaad 2012 in pictures, Part 1

Because I didnt get the chance to post pictures of our Panaad trip last year. Here it is, come join me.

Hola! We're at Binoni port. We were surprised that there is a registration for this, and It's for free. You get an ID and a map. Now who's excited?

That's me, my sister, and Barbie(she is not part of our group but she went along with us)

The sun is so bright, holy, and hot, but we were ready. Look at the sky so blue and the trees so green.

Stopping at a Nipa Hut. Under the shadow of your wings I take refuge.

It is our goal to visit every chapel in the island. We actually slept here for 4 hours to let pass the afternoon heat. Each one occupying a chair.

This Baranggay is actually the most giving. There is free food and water at each corner of the street for the Panaad People :)

The station of the cross. Here we have the second station. There are 14 stations, each station is strategically placed along side the road where people could see it. All 14 stations surround the entire island.

With a generosity like this, you wont go hungry.

Here we are. 10 of us. Each so beautiful and brave.

And tired..and resting.

And God grants us to see beauty like this. My little flower where did you come from?

The work of your hands. What is man that you are mindful of him?

Dirty feet. Feet is dirty.

Even with little money, we were not allowed to go hungry for you are our provider. Banana for free.

The simplicity and beauty of it all. If only you have eyes to see and heart to appreciate little things.

Build your house upon The Rock.

When God is all you've got. Suddenly you'll see God is enough. A friend's acquaintance suddenly prepares a dinner for you.

The pain sometimes becomes unbearable.

So you rest for a while.

Fishers of men. Are we?

For you hold the key to the kingdom of heaven

And so we continue our walk for God.

And God is faithful. Meeting our every need. (You prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies) Free Breakfast near White Island.

God's faithfulness is as pretty as this picture. And you are given strength to continue.

And you fall again. So you rest.

We sang praises as we walk and rest.

And we take pictures of our tired feet. That is actually my feet. Lovely! haha.

(My 25th birthday pictures. Finally something good came out of me looking younger than my age. I used to hate it because people don't usually take me seriously. Now that I am getting a bit older, looking young seriously is the best thing you can have. I decided to just grow gracefully. And to be always young at heart)

What I did during the typhoon

This is what i did during the typhoon Pablo.

This is when i first woke up. I can't remember if it was early morning or afternoon. I know my hair is wild.

Feeling a little better here.

Bah! I'm trying to capture my hair...

Vanity of all vanities! All is vanity! - Hey! I'm trying to appreciate God's creation here. bwahahaha. This is what the typhoon did. No, i was just trying to have fun. I've got like 20 pictures of myself. And these are the best that i got. haha Bad! I do feel a little vain when i take pictures of myself but there are days i indulge. Haha!

So about the typhoon, my parents were pretty worried and so was I. Last year we had hundreds of casualties, some are still missing up to this day. That was pretty rough for all of us. We were caught off guard. But this time we were ready, even excited. The local government prepared for the typhoon for like 1 week. And the day before the typhoon hit the land, those who are in the danger zone evacuated to higher grounds. Everyone was alert. The preparation shall i say was pretty exaggerated . But you know, better ready than sorry. So I am thankful that everyone's safe.

Chief Justice Renato Corona: Guilty!

Today, May 29, 2012, Tuesday, The Chief Justice of the Philippines Renato Corona, who has been under trial for for 43 days, has been found guilty as charged under Article 2: which alleged that Corona betrayed public trust and/or committed culpable violation of the Constitution for his failure to disclose his statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN). Char.

The judgement against Corona proves that there is still hope for us the Philippines. it is a step forward to a much brighter future. And i am happy with it. Kudos to all the senator-judges and to the prosecutors and to the defense as well. The ride was highly entertaining(esp mention 2 senator Miriam Santiago haha). Now my dad and i wont have anything to look forward to every 2pm in the afternoon. Sad.

For me, as a simple Filipino Citizen, trust is essential for a public official. If the people no loger trust those who leads then their is no hope for progress. We the people do things for the government because we trust that the government will protect and do its best for us. We want those who will lead us to be truthful. And if that trust is betrayed then by all means you are no longer fit to serve.

Speed Dating!

I've got a secret to tell. Here it is: I went speed dating two days before my birthday.wooo.God, if someone would know, especially my friends id be dead. Dead of teasing that is! haha. I cant believe i did it! But le me first explain why i went, because i would not do it for the life of me! I went because im gonna be 24 soon, and i want to do something wild, let's put that mildly- i want to do something memorable while im still 23, it was, in a weird way. And also because the proceeds of the said event is for the typhoon sendong victims, and also because my cousin's manager is it's organizer and i just cant say no to my cousin. I have to explain you know.

So what is Speed Dating? Speed dating based on wiki is a formalized matchmaking process or dating system whose purpose is to encourage people to meet a large number of new people. Its origins are credited to Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah, originally as a way to help Jewish singles meet and marry. Men and women are rotated to meet each other over a series of short "dates", usually lasting from 3 to 8 minutes depending on the organization running the event. At the end of each interval, the organizer rings a bell, clinks a glass, or blows a whistle to signal the participants to move on to the next date. At the end of the event participants submit to the organizers a list of who they would like to provide their contact information to. If there is a match, contact information is forwarded to both parties. Contact information cannot be traded during the initial meeting, in order to reduce pressure to accept or reject a suitor to his or her face. bwahaha on the last part!

Basically that's what happened, but Philippines being Philippines have a different version. It was supposed to be 12 dates in one night, 12 Men and 12 Women. The funny part was that the GIRLS OUTNUMBERED the BOYS in a ridiculous way. 16 GIRLS came that night and only 7 BOYS came. Seriously girls, are we that desperate? bwahhaha. Before the event started, small group of girls in different tables were busy chattering and doing some make up. I put some lipstick on just to feel and convince myself that i am a woman already, it's like a - i can do this gesture, don't be so pale! I was so nervous i could die! Especially when i saw the young men entering the room(They look good and presentable by the way, in which i was pleasantly surprised). My sister and cousin were laughing at me. They were like haven't you done this before? Went on a date? Okay, i look stupid, i am nervous, and i haven't went on a date in my 23 years of existence. I know, i know. (Please don't get me started with my "i still have a lot of things to figure out and i don't want to explain my feelings").

Now, because we girls outnumbered the boys so much, what happened was, there were two girls in one table. We were only given four minutes to "date" the boy before the bell rings. Have you heard a trio date before? Nope? Well, basically that's what happened on my first date. The funny part was that the girl who's with me, we have the same name! Competition ba etitch. haha. To tell you the truth i scanned her. Just so i know i CAN and am worthy to be in the table with her. God, she's so tall and all. Insecurity attack! Rotation started, the boys come and go. All 7 of them. One word: AWKWARD! It was the most awkward experience i have ever been! I have to tell you. I know 4 minutes is so short, yet we run out of words. After introducing ourselves, every boy was like what should i say? Is there anything you want to know? What is your hobby? Do you like sports?(Yes, i have no sport) Then silence. If ever your going to a date like this, it helps that you have some ball pen or something to hold with your hands, you'll gonna need it when it starts getting boring. Boring and awkward and you want to laugh at the situation and you look at your girl partner and she smiles and agrees with you. Well, Sheena and i kind of developed an alliance. She was like giving me signals with her face expression like - oh he's good, approved! or OMG he sucks! he's cute.
I learned one thing from that experience and that is, i like men who are honest and open. I discovered that most of the girls were college students and some of the boys too. Their teacher kind of forced them to join. haha. The Speed dating event made me realized that yes i am worthy of love and that i am enough. And that i am not that bad. I wanna cry. haha And that out of the 7 boys, the one with the laser eyes caught my attention. For some reason i can't look straight at him because if i did, those eyes would melt me.
